Methodology and Data Sources

Data source

Breeding results come from the PalCalc project's published breeding table, released under the MIT License (copyright Tyler Camp). The table lists 44,850 parent pairs across 299 Pals. The dataset's own version label is v28.

How results are produced

The calculator looks up the stored result for each pair. It applies no home-made formula. We tested a simple breeding-power average against the table and it did not match, so we dropped it.

How we check the data

After each build, we compare every pair in our compact lookup against the source table. The last check covered 44,850 pairs with zero differences. We also checked the path finder against the source's own minimum-step table: 89,401 Pal-to-Pal comparisons, zero differences. Pages are generated from the same data, so the calculator and Pal pages cannot disagree.

Independent cross-check

We compared our table with an independent 1.0 breeding article (updated July 12, 2026). All 16 recipes it lists match our table. It names 16 Pals that only breed true, and 15 of them are on our list of Pals that only breed from themselves. The difference: Chikipi (our table lists 46 parent pairs for it, so we treat it as breedable and recommend testing it in game). Our list also includes 11 Pals the article does not name. They come from the PalCalc table alone and have not been confirmed by a second source.

Known limits

Mutation chances, incubation time, and cake effects are not included, because we could not verify them. The Wixen and Katress pair depends on parent gender. Game patches can change recipes before the source table updates.

Corrections

If a result differs from what you see in game, send us the two parents, the child, and your game version.
